		<description>I might add that a vote for Debra Bowen (Secretary of State) would be a step in the right direction. She has already worked hard in the legislature to open computer systems giving the public access to bills, committee analyses, legislators' voting records, etc.

She has also been a supporter of open-sourcing the technology that runs our elections machines. Currently, electronic voting machines are less regulated than Vegas slots, and the code that runs them is a 'proprietary company secret' according to Diebold, Sequoia, ESS &#38; other companies. A vote for Bowen will help to ensure these machines are opened up so the public can examine how they operate, instead of continuing to be a 'trade secret'.
