And the “duplicate Digg effect”? Now THAT one will sail over everyone’s head for sure or send them scampering to Wikipedia to find out what you are talking about.

I guess it’s kind of like the way couples renew their vows, or something. The blogger is outed, everyone forgets — out him again six months later!

Then again, you could compare it to the duplicate Digg effect.

Thanks Bob. Well known Blogsters like CPR and Greg (Gregslist) have nice blogs and because the trolls and other electronic graffiti artists don’t don’t spend as much time there it is possible to get a word in edgewise once in a while. Same things goes here on your blog. The Carson Park Ranger’s real identity is known in some circles but I will not be the one to “out” him. But you can use the power of search engines to figure it out. Most people have no idea how many tracks they leave in cyberspace.

If the “it” you refer to is the street you are correct. If it is H.H. Buhne I am correct. As you pointed out, just like Del Nort, regional interpretations can change words from other languages into new pronunciations.

I agree with you about the direct relationship between anon’s and ugly or useless comments. But why Morse’s Law as apposed to Greg’s Law or any other blogger that does not allow anonymous comments?

Better yet, why don’t you post this subject of correct pronunciation on your own blog so we can debate it over there as opposed to cluttering up Bobs?

On the subject of anonymity, I can atest to the fact that the more anonymous comments there are on a blog, the more likely the thread will be vulgar, puerile, and uninteresting.

Let’s call this phenomenon “Morse’s Law.”

The correct pronunciation of Buhne (the original Captain H.H. Buhne) is difficult to explain as it ends with a “swallowed” R sound. So the closest thing would be something like “Boone-nah”.

Of course that was the original captain. The new Capt. can call himself anything he wants, so if he says he is “Boone” like in Daniel Boone that is his right.
