It’s Official: IPhone to be Available June 29th

The commercials stating that started running Sunday night.

But so what? No one will be carrying it locally as far as I can tell because we have no AT&T cellular service. I called Edge and they confirmed that their network won’t support the phone.IPhone

Besides, at $499 and $599, who but a fan boy would get one…ok, maybe me.

BTW, with all the hoopla over being all touch screen, it’s still just a concept machine. The IPhone (which is coming out June 29 but we can’t get one did I say that?) will have touch screen technology in the consumer’s hands.

    Me too.

I was wondering when you were going to post this.

Seems odd to me. Edge is s wireless affiliate of AT&T. You would think if AT&T supports it, they would too.

Hi Bob, I called ATT today (I use this service) they say the service is available. I am able to surf the web with my current phone (moto mv551) so I don’t see why the iPhone won’t work. You are correct about the iPhone not being available here but you can buy it online. I am getting one but will be waiting for the next gen.

Huh. Well then their staff is not very well trained because what she said was not that it wasn’t available to purchase, but that it also wouldn’t work on their network. It didn’t make sense to me.

I think I’ll wait a bit too. Let me know if you get one and how it works.

I called the local Edge store and confirmed that the Data would not work on their network. They expect to be bought by AT & T, who is quietly buying up small cellular providers throughout the country. They just bought one in OK for $1.5B. So we have a real good excuse to wait for the next generation model. Local salesman confirmed that it would probably be 1-2 years before AT & T makes it behind the Redwood curtain.

Allan…thats very weird…ATT is telling me it will work here. I am sure its the same data network I’m using on my current phone. Try calling AT&T, see what they say.

Bob…what do you think? Next gen iPhone and/or iPod in time for the holidays? Thats my guess.

I don’t know. Ideally. But it depends on what you call 2 Gen. Faster network? Cheaper? Those are the 2 biggies for me.
