Karen Armstrong is a tremendous writer on religion. She was honored recently at the Technology Entertainment and Design (TED) conference. Her acceptance talk is revelatory and I thought appropriate for this Easter weekend. She includes a proposal that offers a chance of transcendence for all of us. The 20 minute video is well worth watching and contemplating.
And if you aren’t aware of TED, check out the other talks available.
Pope kai: Thanks for the tip on Jim Buckmaster.
Hayduke: The talk you watched was the result of being given a TED award. She didn’t get the TED award for the talk.
Just a heads up, tomorrow Jim Buckmaster (CEO of Craigstlist) is going to be on the Jefferson Exchange.
rational dialogue, that is
Thanks for sharing this. I’ve read many of her books and I was genuinely surprised that TED would recognize her work. But it makes me happy to see the promotion of ration dialogue regarding religion.
I was not aware of TED and thank you for bringing to my attention. The talk from Karen Armstrong was interesting, and while I did not agree with everything she said, it was worth the 20 minutes it took to watch it. I am a little surprised it was considered good enough to win an award, however.
Wow. This folks are in a class by themselves.
