Making money in the arts has alway been a challenge for most most artists, even in the best of economic times. So, it’s nice to see a group of artists using technology in trying to find ways to make some in spite of, or perhaps because of, the current recession. That’s optimism for you.
My tip about this effort comes from Amy Stewart, whose accomplishments as a writer should be well known. But she is also part of a group of artists called
Lost Coast Daily Painters. They are using their blog to sell their smaller works that they produce on a daily basis. There are a few impressive things about this: 1) Thes works are quite good; 2) The works are realtively inexpensive; 3) The artists are actually selling some of them through this blog; 4) They are part of a larger movement I had never heard of that encourages artists to produce a fresh work of art every single day. No sitting around moping about the economy for them.
I’m thinking about it Susan. I’m just slow to pull the trigger.
Oh, and Bob, when are you going to start your collection 😉 ?
Thanks for the promo, Kym!
The excellent local wildlife artist, Susan Fox has a list of them all on her blog. Here is couple of paintings that she recently had for sale.
