Happy July 4th, the day we celebrate our independence from tyranny. Perhaps it’s time to revisit the Declaration as our rights keep shrinking under a government out of control.  Just to quote the most salient phrase:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, derAmerican Flagiving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

The latest breach of our rights is a ruling by a federal court for the Southern District of New York that orders Google to divulge when, what and who watched YouTube videos. The ruling is part of a Viacom vs Google lawsuit over copyright issues.

Just one more step in the erosion of the freedoms we celebrate today.
